Many people suffer from cold hands and feet. You too? This can be annoying to perform a yoga session, especially in the winter months and outdoors. Nevertheless, you want to perform your yoga session in comfort all year round. This is why there is a special yoga mat made of 100% pure merino wool, which gives you a wonderfully warm and soft feeling when using it. In addition, the bottom is made of latex, which means that the mat insulates well on the bottom and does not allow the cold to penetrate from the ground to your limbs. The mat is no less than 1.2 centimeters thick!
The latex has another great function. The top is nice, supple and soft, the bottom must be rough to prevent slipping. The anti-slip latex ensures that the mat stays tight on the floor and does not curl up. Very nice if you want to do some moving exercises. Your stability is guaranteed and due to the cooperation of the different layers, the mat excellently absorbs shocks that result from dynamic movements.
This yoga mat is a lot bigger than a standard one, with a surface area of 200 by 75 centimeters. That's why you can lie down on this yoga mat without worrying about touching that cold floor.
The best experience
The mat is nice and warm and because of its wonderful softness and thickness you can spend a long time on it. Try Yin Yoga or Yoga Nidra on it. You will feel completely relaxed and at one with the mat. Forget everything around you for a moment and practice your favorite poses with full focus.
Why would you only use this beautiful shorn wool mat for yoga? At home as a rug on the floor, the mat also functions excellently. You can sit on it comfortably when you spend an evening with the kids, pets or your loved one or when you are reading a book. Add a matching bolster and you also have a wonderful back support.
This yoga mat is equipped with elastics that are attached to the mat. Ideal, because this way you can roll up the mat tightly after use when storing it. In addition, you will never lose the elastics and you protect the yoga mat well against damage at the edges and corners. Did you know that you can also transport this yoga mat? With the elastics you can roll up the mat nicely tight and put it in the beautiful black Lotus yoga bag. An extra large yoga bag that fits extra wide mats. This way you can easily take many more accessories with you for a wonderful session in addition to your woolen mat.
A responsible yoga mat
It goes without saying that this yoga mat is made of natural materials. The mat is therefore animal-friendly. In fact, the merino wool comes from sheep that are sheared in the spring. The sheep's fleece is then at its thickest and at full strength. The wool is then washed, combed and woven with sturdy polyester to create a long mat. This yoga mat is made entirely of OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 materials. The mat has therefore been extensively tested for the presence of toxic substances and has been declared free of them.
Not only the planet and yourself should benefit from the production and use of this mat. The way in which the materials are obtained must also be socially responsible. That is why the wool is bought at a fair price from farmers in Italy and Poland.
Maintenance
Sheep's wool has a self-cleaning capacity. Regular cleaning of the mat is therefore not necessary. During intense sessions, the wool absorbs the perspiration moisture and then releases it into the room air, you do not have to worry about dirt on the mat for a moment, as the wool also has a self-cleaning function in this. If there is a stain on the mat, you can always try to clean it with a clean cloth with some water and the wool.
Take the yoga mat outside every now and then and shake it carefully to remove the accumulated dust and dirt. Then leave the shorn wool mat outside to get rid of all odours. Thanks to its self-cleaning properties, wool releases odours and perspiration moisture into the air. Try to choose a day and place where the mat is not in direct sunlight.
Are you planning to wash the mat? Then follow the washing instructions below.
Washing merino wool
You can wash merino wool in both the washing machine and by hand. This requires special treatment, which we explain below. Follow these instructions to prevent your product from being damaged during washing.
When washing in the washing machine, only use the wool wash program at a maximum of 30 degrees.
Only use a liquid detergent. When using powder detergent, there is a chance that the granules will not dissolve quickly enough and will get stuck in the merino wool.
Use a detergent that contains lanolin. Lanolin restores the hair's oil balance, just like a conditioner.
Washing and rinsing should be done in water of the same temperature
